About Me

A local voice to international wine.

I have a broad range of knowledge about wine, from grape growing to winemaking. I enjoy talking about wine and learning more about this topic that I have devoted my life to. I also enjoy other alcoholic beverages like beer, sake and liquors.

My passion for wine started early at 18, well before I was of legal drinking age in the U.S. That is when I began working in the vineyards helping to plant, prune and pick. Although vineyard work albeit is difficult and the weather can often be unpleasant, my feet were firmly planted for the pursuit of my passions. After 4 years of nurturing vineyards in Ohio and the Finger Lakes of New York, I decided to try my hand at winemaking.

My winemaking route took me from Ohio, the Finger Lakes, to the Limestone Coast of Australia and Matakana, New Zealand. Every experience increases my interest in all things wine. As I imagine some people do when they love something, I spend my time studying and taking classes. I just completed my WSET (Wine Spirits Education Trust) Diploma and I am an Adjunct Professor for the Kent State VESTA Program in enology teaching Winery Equipment, Winery Sanitation and Wines of the World.

I am extremely passionate about wine and I have been teaching people about a multitude of topics about wine. I am an extremely creative person and have a lot to offer to communicate winemaking and viticulture to people who want to learn.

Kind Regards,

Lauren Fiala
